I have had Velux skylights since 1993. One finally started leaking with snow dams, so it had to be replaced. There are upgrades on the window that seem to be improvements. It has a solar powered shade that works really slick. I do wonder if this solar powered shade will still work 30+ years from now as my old window shades work with a pull string--I guess we will see.

Their Solar Powered Fresh Air Skylights are supposed to close automatically during rain - they DO NOT WORK reliably. Ours stayed open during a heavy rain after months of little to no rain. I had mine installed by a Velux certified installer - they had to reinstall them due to improper flashing at install - after the reinstall the acoustic sensors did not work consistently and there is no fault tolerance, notification of failure or follow up between Velux supplying parts and installer unless y
