I recently received a quote for installing a 3" or 4" vent cover. The job requires a skilled repairman to access the roof from our second-floor patio and walk 6 feet to the vent to place the cover. The quote is $2,500, which is approximately 50 times the cost of the part and 10 times more than the next quote I received. For context, a brand new roof would cost around $17,000.
