I am still floored by the $850 quote I received from Roto-Rooter for a simple kitchen sink Air Admittance Valve (AAV). I did some shopping around and found a local licensed plumber who quoted the exact same job for $120 total parts and labor included. Roto-Rooter, on the other hand, tried to charge me a 600% markup for the same 45 minutes of work. It’s predatory to quote nearly a thousand dollars for a $40 part and an hour of labor.
