Turns out there was a bird’s nest stuck in the vent. They stayed until it was completely cleared out, kept us informed of their progress, and were very friendly.

I was quoted a group rate price for dryer vent cleaning of $199 but then was told once the tech got there that it would be $399 because it required a "deep vent cleaning with rotary brush" not just the vacuum. It took 40 minutes to complete the job, and our dryer vent is about 10' long.
